Post 16 alternative education
We offer post 16 alternative education provision for young people up to the age of 25 years with an EHC plan.
The goal is to prepare them for their future pathways and transition planning for whatever comes next.
Our support is always bespoke to the needs of the individual, but post 16 support usually involves one or more of the following:
- Full time alternative education
- One to one support at home or in the community
- Attendance at one of our post 16 hubs
- Targeted learning support
Our support is delivered by a range of specialist SEND staff including tutors, wellbeing practitioners and specialist services.
Post 16 alternative provision
Young people can access full or part time education through our bespoke programmes that are child centred and designed to meet individual needs.
These programmes are often suitable for those who would find attending a large sixth form or college would not suit their needs and offers a variety of delivery styles and locations.
- Smaller, more supportive and personalised setting
- Home based and outreach sessions available
- Personalised curriculum appropriate to the individual
- Study for qualifications such as ASDAN and Functional Skills alongside one to one support
- Programmes designed around the aspirations of the young person
- Programmes that work alongside other alternative provisions to broaden the vocational offe
- Extracurricular activities and trips designed to widen the young persons experiences and learning opportunities
- Duration could be termly, yearly or a full post 16 placement
- Transition options include mainstream college, employment or a supported internship or apprenticeship.
Support for 19-25 year olds
Young people up to the age of 25 with an EHC plan can also benefit from our support. This is suitable for those with SEND and SEMH needs who require personal development support including; independent skills, employability and mentoring.
- Delivered in either our post 16 hub, dedicated 19-25 hub or through one to one outreach in the home or community.
- SEMH support and assistance with independent living within the home and community
- Focus on employability skills, CV writing, seeking training/employment
- ASDAN personal development programmes available
- Mentoring to help young people explore career and further education options
Not in education, employment or training (NEET)
Young people up to the age of 25 with an EHC plan can also benefit from our support. This is suitable for those with SEND and SEMH needs who require personal development support including; independent skills, employability and mentoring.
- Delivered in either a dedicated hub, or through one to one outreach in the home or community.
- Focus on employability skills, CV writing, seeking training/employment
- ASDAN Personal Development programmes available
- Mentoring to help young people explore career and further education options
The support that we offer is only suitable for young people with an EHC plan. All referrals must be via professionals such as case workers or school staff. We are unable to take referrals direct from parents or carers.
